Shahi Jorda Recipe

Jorda is a dessert, and a delicious item to have. Everyone loves to have it.

Today, we will see the recipe for preparing Jorda at home. Let’s start the exploration.

  • Basmati/ Polao rice (two cups)
  • Food color
  • Clarified butter
  • Sugar
  • Orange (peeled)/ pineapple (peeled)
  • Hot spices
  • Water
  • Cashew nut
  • Small sweetmeat


The preparation process

At first, you have to prepare the rice. Take the rice, clean it. Soak the rice in water for the next 30 minutes. It will prevent the rice to break while preparing the Jorda.

The cooking

Now, boil the rice. Take a bowl and add half cup of food color. Place the bowl on the stove. When the water is moderately hot, add the rice on the bowl and boil for the next 10 – 15 minutes.

Check the rice if it is a bit hard. Make sure the rice is boiled but not that much soft which will ruin the Jorda.

Take another bowl, add the sugar (half cup), clarified butter, and orange slices. Also, add hot spices. Now, heat the bowl so that the sugar is melted.

Once the sugar melts on the bowl, add the pre-boiled rice. Mix the rice properly. Wait until the water level gets heated.

You need to be careful about the water. If the water level is more, the Jorda will not be perfect.

Now, it’s time to cover the Jorda. Cover the bowl and keep the stove heat medium. Cook for the next 20 minutes. But don’t forget to stir the mixture during this time.

After around 20 minutes of cooking, the Jorda is done.

Wait! Before serving, you have to make it cool. Also do not forget to add the cashew nut and small sweetmeats for beautification.
